my first knive now with filework and sheat

lets start here some pictures with a short comment
at first the design
then the transfer. i used a flimsy paper und a overhead pen

then i went to my cuttingstation ))))). it is outside the house. it makes so much dust i dont want to do it inside. Want to cut it close to the line.

then i start to grind the outlines ( here i take the pully, because i dont have a medium contact wheel)

here i use the radius grinder
now i flatten the blade
the one the good side, at the other side, i los the grip on the blade and the blade gets a cut on th topside, sh................... so i have to make the gind over the whole blade ( its OK its easier as i will learn within the next 2 hours)
now i mark the middle of the blade

the main problem when i made the first tryouts with the old grinder was the angle. one time the grind gets only 20% from the blade the other time it gets 120%. so i found the bubble jig from fred rowe that works great. the handle helps you for the ricasso and with a little bit of mathematik you can find the right degrees.

after about 2 hours grinding and some shouting this is the result. i had to go up so i have now a straight line as ricasso, but i am satisfied.

the next step will be the handl.
stay tuned.........................
here we go

sh..................... the material breakes, so i have to make bolsters
drilling the holes with a 2,5 mm drill
making the 3mm threads

the bolsters, i have to countersink the holescutting the back part of the handles, green micarta

shortening the handle screws
the handles on the blade

working on the handle form

now the handles have the shape i like

a littele bit finishing, new screws and some small fileworks

lets start with the sheat, a small sketch

cut the single parts, made a failure the upper front part was to small, i had to do it again

glue it together and sew the belt loop
bring all the layers on one measure and then draw a line where to sew

finishing the edges with teh beltgrinder and the buffer, it tried this the first time and it works very good

now gluing the carved skull on the sheat, i did not sew it because i dont want to see the seam
i still have to finish the edges from the skull and let everything get dry
that was it for now. will start a new projet soon
